Since the opening of the Preparatory Japanese Language Program in 1976, Soka University has been putting great efforts into the Japanese Language and Culture education for the International students. “Japan Studies Center” is the institution established in 2011 hoping to further enrich the educational support for the international students, based on Soka’s Grand Design Initiative aiming towards 2020, the 50th anniversary of the university’s founding,

Japan Studies Center welcomes exchange students from our partner institutions, prospective undergraduate/graduate students from abroad, non-degree students intending to take undergraduate courses, and students on the Japanese training course from universities abroad. In order to meet the various needs of the international students, we provide Japanese language classes and Japanese traditional culture classes. We also provide support for taking common subjects and specialized undergraduate courses offered in Japanese and in English. This has enabled more international students with various purposes and goals to study at Soka University.

We will fully support the international students from around the globe with the hope that they will study and grow as “Global Citizens” who shoulder the creation of a new culture and the realization of world peace.
